During my recent stay at Mpelleiko in the picturesque village of Stemnitsa, I had the pleasure of experiencing its renowned culinary offerings, particularly the breakfast. Each morning, Nena, our gracious host, curated a spread that included homemade jams, capturing the essence of traditional Greek flavors. The combination of unique tastes and the warmth of the dining room set the perfect tone for the day ahead. On one occasion, while savoring the locally-sourced ingredients, I found myself conversing with Nena about her recipes, which reflect both her commitment to tradition and her innovative spirit. The ambiance, coupled with the stunning views of the valley, provided a calming backdrop. I appreciated the accessibility of the nearby Menalon Trail, recommended by Nena, a testament to her deep connection with the local landscape. Mpelleiko is indeed a notable retreat that offers delightful experiences for both food enthusiasts and nature lovers.
